November was a difficult month for South America as three hurricanes consecutively made landfall and Guatemala, Honduras and Colombia, affecting marginalized coastal regions.
Following these disasters, Style Saves immediately began relief efforts; we reached out to our community and could not be more thankful for their exceptional support. A huge thank you to Ministerio Internacional Cosecha, the Honduran local church we worked closely with on this project as well as the independent shipping company, sponsored by the Guatemalan Consulate of Miami. We were able to collect nonperishable items, personal hygiene products, clothing and medicine. Our four week long drive was a success, allowing us to promptly ship out containers filled with items these communities needed. As a team, we find it crucial to offer a hand in circumstances of urgency. “Even though organizing a mutual aid drive out of the blue may seem like a hectic task, there is nothing we wouldn't do to get the help when it's needed, it is our duty as citizens of the world, to lend a hand to our human family,” notes Style Staves team member Laura Restrepo.
