As soon as the Covid-19 pandemic hit, it became clear to us that families in our community, specifically undocumented families, were struggling to aquire basic necessities while also experiencing food insecurity. Style Saves pooled its resources, reached out to the community and began distributing meals for those affected by and in need of assistance during this global situation.

Several local restaurants such as Swan, PapiSteak, Burgerfi, Chicken Grill, Coyo Taco, Pizza Gang and others sponsored meals to be distributed among the communities. Lotus House Village, a local shelter for women and children experiencing homeslessnes also stepped in to help.  Volunteers all over the city came together to distribute the meals and offer a hand in the clean up effort after. Star Hawkings, creator of Babymomma Fit, played a big role in this initiative. At the beginning of the pandemic, restaurants began reaching out to Star for her to promote their food. “I couldn’t justify just taking free food during a pandemic. I propositioned the business to donate the food to families in need.” she explained. This is how the relief efforts took place throughout the summer.
