Style Saves’ 9th annual ‘Back-To-School’ event took place at Mana Wynwood Convention Center on August 17thand 18th. The Miami community rallied behind Founder Rachael Russell Saiger and Board Member Isabela Grutman to provide 7,500 underprivileged students with the necessities required to succeed in this upcoming school year during two full days of carnival-themed fun.

Style Saves serviced an impressive 7,500 students- their largest amount of kids to date coming from over 300 organizations, such as South Florida Public Schools, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Voices for Children, Lotus House, The Guatemala-Mayan Center, to name a few.

“We want to help more students and spread this community as wide as we can. There is no greater feeling than helping others. Truly the smallest acts of kindness can go a long way.” -Rachael Russell Saiger

The goal of this annual event is to diminish the stress of going back to school from lower-income families, while also ensuring each child starts their first day with confidence. Every student had the chance to shop for brand new uniforms, shoes, backpacks, and school supplies from brands like Puma, Sketchers, Jordache, Fast Forward, State Bags, Juntos Project and Office Depot while complimentary beauty services were provided by IGK, Gee Beauty and Glam Squad and entertainment and food were donated by the Miami Heat, Event Depot, Hypemakerz, Zhantra, Frito Lay, Pizza Bar, Falafel Fresh, Bunnie Cakes, The Diplomat Hotel, Evian, Health-Ade Kombucha, Sweet Leaf Tea, and Pepsi.

The event was a huge success thanks to Daniela Maduro, Style Saves’ Marketing Coordinator, and the 900+ volunteers coming from corporations such as Groot Hospitality, Miansai, Soho Beach House, Eberjey, Bumble, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart, and many more including Miami locals.

“I love seeing the Miami community come together to make a difference. It’s a lot of hard work but seeing the smiles on the kids faces makes it all worth it.”- Isabela Grutman

Saiger’s ambition to further expand the Style Saves’ reach is evident in her plans for the organization.

“Style Saves began with the idea to unite fashion with philanthropy. Combining a talented, diverse community with a shared love for humanitarianism, the organization aimed at inspiring a fresh generation. Together with our fashion fundraisers, we host yearly events for the kids, including Project Prom, Back to School, a Holiday party, as well as trips to disaster areas to make sure people in those areas have what they need. Setting us apart is our concept of charity through fashion, which inspires others to get involved and to give back.”
